The International Queer Tango Festival has taken place annually since the year 2000. Nothing comparable existed before the establishment of this festival. The idea of Queer Tango goes around the world and continues to bloom worldwide. The festival was and is meant to be a tangohome for woman/woman, man/man and woman/man dancing couples that goes beyond the usual images and clichés. The Queer-Tango-idea was born.

Queer doesn't only stand for the dazzling variety of questions related to sex and gender. Queer theory can give impulses to open tango to more possibilities. Tango can be seen in its potential for a dialogue on equal pars. More about this under backgrounds.
 
Meanwhile the idea of Queer-Tango has been going round the world! Now there are regular Queer Tango Festivals in Stockholm, Buenos Aires, Cologne, Oslo, San Fransisco AND  SOON ALSO IN NEW YORK AND MEXIKO CITY. You can find contacts to this and more international Queer Tango adresses under links.

This autumn there will be for the 9th time the chance to learn with internationally renowned teachers in Hamburg. Again we want to offer all those who feel connected to the idea of our festival a forum for inspiring exchange, interesting contacts and joyful entertainment.
